Wood Innovation in Architecture

CEI recently hosted a roundtable discussion on the future of innovative wood buildings, featuring keynote speaker Hubert Rhomberg, Managing Director of Cree Buildings, Inc. and the Rhomberg Group in Austria. Cree has recently constructed, in record time, the worlds tallest wood office tower. Life Cycle Tower is an eight-floor wood/concrete composite building built in only eight days using Cree’s component structural system.

Okanagan College rises to a “Challenge”

The Jim Pattison Centre of Excellence made the front cover of the Canadian Facility Management and Design Magazine, October issue. The article focuses on the facility as one of the first and largest projects in the world striving to meet the standards of the Living Building Challenge.

Robert H. N. Ho Research Centre, a project CEI completed with MCMP Architects, is up on ArchDaily’s architecture blog, one of the world’s leading architectural websites. The site gets over 7 million visits and 45 million page impressions per month. Check out the post here.

Terravista winery has caught the attention of Canadian Architect. This new boutique Okanagan winery appears on their website.

The new Wine Experience Centre at Black Hills Winery also received recognition in the latest print issue of Canadian Architect. It was also a feature story on American Building Today.

CEI featured in Canadian Business Executive Magazine

Congratulations, Robert Cesnik!

CEI is pleased to announce our newest Associate, Robert Cesnik. Robert joined CEI’s Kelowna office in August 2010 with the acquisition of Bevanda Architecture. As a project architect at CEI, he has recently worked on the Lefebvre-Smyth Residence, Terravista Vineyards and Black Hills Wine Experience Centre.

John Scott recently contributed to the NAIOP Industry Leaders Blog with an article called “The Greening of Vancouver.” It provides an overview of what can be expected for future energy use and savings requirements for new projects in Vancouver. Read on for his take on where things are headed.



CEI at the Athletic Business Conference and Expo

Mary Chow and Jennifer Boudreau recently presented on Social Media at the Athletic Business Conference and Expo, New Orleans, in November 2012. Their 90 minute presentation Using Social Media to Get Input and Buy-in From Community Stakeholders presented Social Media as a powerful tool to get community buy-in on new projects, additions or renovations. Mary and Jennifer presented real-world case studies that uncovered basic and advanced strategies to reach large audiences to get buy-in, feedback and support.
