District of North Vancouver selects CEI Architecture to lead design of the new William Griffin Community Recreation Centre

Following a competitive Request for Proposals process, the District of North Vancouver has selected CEI Architecture as prime consultant for the design of the new William Griffin Community Recreation Centre.

CEI will work with the District of North Vancouver, the North Vancouver Recreation Commission (NVRC) and project managers MHPM on the facility.

GEC and CEI to design two new recreation centres in Calgary

The City of Calgary has recently embarked on an ambitious program of providing comprehensive community and recreation facilities in every district within the City boundary. GEC Architecture of Calgary with CEI Architecture have been awarded the design contract for two of the four new regional recreation centres that will provide for the recreation and wellness needs of Calgary residents for several decades. CEI has been brought in to provide a specialist focus on recreation and sport planning and to advise on design issues resulting from the functional requirements of the building’s program.

Thunder Bay Phase 2 Event Centre Feasibility Study completed

Consultant Spotlight: PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP

One of the integral members of CEI’s consulting team for Phase 2 of the Thunder Bay Event Centre Feasibility Study is Ronald Bidulka of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Ron was responsible for both the Assessment of Economic Benefits and the Operational Assessment piece, and was integral to the site selection process. In late December Ron was able to secure a similar role, working again with Conrad and CEI, on the master plan for the existing Crystal Centre in Grande Prairie.

Access caught up with Ron as part of a pre-planning meeting for the Crystal Centre project.

Sustainability of Buildings for Mega-Events – Transfer of Knowledge Congress in Munich

Conrad Boychuk was invited to speak at the Sustainability of Buildings for Mega-Events – Transfer of Knowledge Congress, an international expert workshop sponsored by the Technical University of Munich, the Fraunhofer Institute of Building Physics, the German Institute of Standardization, the German Ministry of Economics and Technology, the German Olympic Sports Confederation, and the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities.

A new addition to CEI’s Recreation Team

CEI welcomed Larry Podhora to our Recreation team as a Senior Architect with a Business Development role in September. Larry has more than 30 years of professional experience in building design and construction, with a specialization in the design of sport and recreation facilities.
