Edmonds Community Centre Now Open!
Hundreds of citizens from Burnaby joined Mayor Derek Corrigan on July 1 to celebrate Canada Day and the grand opening of the Edmonds Community Centre.
The new 95,000 square foot facility features a weight and cardio room, an active studio for fitness and dance classes, two full-sized gyms, a games room, senior and youth lounges, a preschool, multipurpose spaces and one of the most popular facilities; the new Fred Randall Pool.
A Burnaby resident for over 40 years, Fred served as Alderman from 1976 to 1981, and again from 1987 to 1990. Fred also acted as Parks and Recreation Commissioner from 1979 to 1980, and served on multiple committees of Council before becoming a Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Burnaby-Edmonds riding. Fred’s family were on site to participate in day’s activities and the dedication of the pool.
The afternoon was a great opportunity for residents to familiarize themselves with the new facility, and pay tribute to a valued past member of the community.
