Edmonds Community Centre and Fred Randall Pool‹ Back
Part of the neighbourhood.
CEI Architecture began the design of the 95,000 square foot Edmonds Community Centre and Fred Randall Pool by actively involving key stakeholders in a significant public engagement effort. With the neighbourhood home to a growing proportion of new Canadians unfamiliar with the concept of a community centre, part of the preliminary information stage was to communicate the function of the facility and outline the public feedback process. The result of this targeted information-gathering stage is a diversified facility that meets the social, recreation and cultural needs of its end users.
The community centre features a 12,000 square foot twin gymnasium, fitness centre, community kitchen, active studio, multi-purpose rooms, senior’s lounge, youth room and a preschool playcare centre that features an indoor playground. The amenities continue into the Fred Randall Pool, which includes both a six-lane, 25-metre pool and a 15-metre warm-water leisure pool that features a lazy river, beach entry, and water toys that compliment the adjacent double-waterslide.
