Hillside Centre Redevelopment

Retail Therapy.

HDR | CEI collaborated with MMC International Architects on the $75 million multi-phase renovation, redevelopment and seismic upgrade of Hillside Centre in Victoria. The reinvention of Hillside began in October 2009 with Phase 1 initiating a 55,000 square foot addition. Now complete, the addition added space for 30 new tenants and major existing tenants have relocated to new, expanded premises.

Phase 2 began in May 2011 with a complete renovation and redevelopment of the original 120,000 square foot shopping centre. The Hillside Centre redevelopment updates the shopping centre premises to a modern, community-friendly destination that welcomes cyclists and pedestrians along with motorists.

Phase 3 of the project began in October 2012 with the addition of a new 120,000 square foot Target store that replaced the smaller single-storey Zellers.

Working in collaboration with MMC, HDR | CEI was involved through all phases of the project, including assisting in obtaining development approvals, preparing working drawings, and also in completing the full set of documentation for the Phase 3 addition. CEI was contract administrator for all phases of redevelopment.
