Crystal Centre Master Plan presented to Grande Prairie Council

CEI teamed with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Bird Construction to prepare a new Master Plan for the expansion of the Crystal Centre in Grande Prairie. The report was presented to Council on April 1st, and the City has already started to move forward on several of the recommendations.




Thunder Bay Phase 2 Event Centre Feasibility Study completed

On November 26th, 2012, Thunder Bay City Council approved the Feasibility Study for their proposed new Event Centre. Access sat down with CEI’s Conrad Boychuk, leader of the Consulting Team.




Consultant Spotlight: PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP

One of the integral members of CEI’s consulting team for Phase 2 of the Thunder Bay Event Centre Feasibility Study is Ronald Bidulka of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Ron was responsible for both the Assessment of Economic Benefits and the Operational Assessment piece, and was integral to the site selection process. In late December Ron was able to secure a similar role, working again with Conrad and CEI, on the master plan for the existing Crystal Centre in Grande Prairie.

Sustainability of Buildings for Mega-Events – Transfer of Knowledge Congress in Munich

Conrad Boychuk was invited to speak at the Sustainability of Buildings for Mega-Events – Transfer of Knowledge Congress, an international expert workshop sponsored by the Technical University of Munich, the Fraunhofer Institute of Building Physics, the German Institute of Standardization, the German Ministry of Economics and Technology, the German Olympic Sports Confederation, and the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities.




CEI awarded Thunder Bay Event Centre Study

CEI Architecture was recently awarded the Thunder Bay Event Centre Study, which includes an assessment of three sites identified by the City.

CEI’s Conrad Boychuk, working with Ron Bidulka of PricewaterhouseCoopers, Alun Lloyd of BA Consulting Group, and local engineer Adam Rose, will be developing alternate design concepts for each of the three sites and doing an economic assessment for each. The team will be working with representatives of the City and local stakeholders and will make a site recommendation based on financial performance, economic impact, access, and potential future development opportunities.
