Breathing new life into Kalamazoo’s Wings Stadium
CEI Architecture is developing a number of concept designs for upgrading Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The existing facility has expanded since being originally constructed as a 5,000-fixed-seat venue in the mid 1970s and now has two additional community ice surfaces attached.
The prime focus for the project is two-fold. First, the facility needs to be more multi-functional. One focus for improvement is the facility’s back-of-house area.
Another refinement that needs to be reviewed is the opportunity for generating revenue from private suites and other enhancements that simply were not part of the planning process when the facility was designed. For CEI’s Conrad Boychuk, the goal is to provide a revitalized Wings Stadium that once again becomes a regional destination of a diversity of sports and entertainment events.
